Gov’s party safe in mishap

BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A motorized banca carrying five police escorts and three staffers of Surigao del Norte Gov. Sol Forcadilla-Matugas capsized while on its way to Dacu Island in General Luna town early Friday morning, according to reports. All five and the boat’s two crewmen were safely rescued.

Authorities said the group was Matugas’ advance party for an educational caravan and meeting with students and teachers on Dacu Island.
