Iloilo City cop chief thankful to critics

Jennifer P. Rendon - The Philippine Star

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – Far from being angered, Senior Superintendent Marietto Valerio said he was thankful for his detractors who earlier had asked for his ouster as this city’s police chief.

In 2011, Valerio noted that the city won the Gawad Pamana ng Lahi of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). This year, the city is also a finalist.

“I don’t think Iloilo City got the award if we have a dismal performance,” he said.

Valerio also noted that Iloilo City was ranked as the third best performing city behind the cities of San Juan and Puerto Princesa.

Having completed his two-year stint here, Valerio is reportedly being groomed to be the next Region 6 police director.
