CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO , Philippines  – Three most wanted persons were nabbed the other day in La Union in a span of three hours by intelligence operatives of Police Regional Office 1 based on information from concerned citizens.

Arrested by combined elements of the PRO1 Regional Special Operations Group led by Chief Inspectors Julius Suriben and Reynante Panay and the 2nd Company of the Regional Mobile Group led by Chief Inspector Eduardo Danguecan was Rodolfo Pagkaliwangan, 49, a native of Quezon province, at about 5:50 a.m. in his residence at Sitio Payas, Barangay San Jose, Agoo, La Union.

He is an escapee from the Quezon Provincial Jail and is wanted for murder with an approved monetary reward of P165,000.

At about 7 a.m., the police officers conducted a follow-up operation in Barangay San Antonio, also in Agoo town that resulted in the arrest of Ruben, 50, who is Rodolfo’s brother and co-accused in the killing of a certain Elpidio Lalusen in San Antonio, Quezon sometime in 1999.

Later, at about 9 a.m., the same operating elements collared one Niño Almoite, 33, son-in-law of the Pagkaliwangan brothers, in Barangay Paringao, Bauang, La Union.

Almoite has a warrant of arrest for the crime of reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries and damage to property issued by Judge Manuel Aquino of MTCC Branch 1, San Fernando City, La Union.

Chief Superintendent Ramon Gatan, PRO1 regional director, commended the operating elements for their exemplary police work, and the community at large for their support and cooperation, that led to these significant accomplishments.

The arrest of the three most wanted persons was the latest of a series of achievements in relation to PRO1’s “Impact Project on Most Wanted Persons” spearheaded by the Regional Intelligence Division headed by Senior Superintendent Amando Lagiwid.   – With Jun Elias
