Family of 3 arrested in Malabon drug raid

MANILA, Philippines - Three members of a family were arrested in a drug raid in Malabon City yesterday morning.

Elizabeth Mamarlao, 68; her son, Ricardo, 32, and their alleged relative, Edna Closa, 52, were apprehended in Mamarlao’s house in Barangay Longos by police officers at past 7 a.m.

The lawmen were armed with a search warrant issued by Malabon Regional Trial Court Branch 74 Judge Celso Magsino.

Approximately nine grams of shabu and an undetermined amount of money were confiscated from the suspects.

City police chief Senior Superintendent Severino Abad Jr. said the raid was a product of weeks of intelligence gathering.
