‘Hot’ cop wins Makati’s pageant
MANILA, Philippines - Police Officer 2 Mariano Flormata Jr. won the top spot in the Misters of the Philippines held in Makati City Sunday night.
Aside from the top prize, Flormata, alias Neil Perez, bagged the titles “Mister International,” “Mister Unisilver,” “Mister Informatics,” “Mister Photogenic” and “Mister Swimsuit” during the competition held at the Grand Theater of the University of Makati.
Flormata, who stands five feet and 11 inches tall and weighs 165 pounds, is far from the typical police officer the public perceives – pot bellied and lousy dressed.
Chief Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, Philippine National Police chief information officer, said the PNP is proud of Flormata, a member of the Aviation Security Group.
Sindac said other police officers should be inspired by Flormata’s accomplishments.
“Discipline is the secret for having good body. I work out everyday and whenever I have the opportunity,” said Flormata.
The contest was launched to uplift and give a new face to pageants for men in the country. It was meant to give men the same honor bestowed to beauty queens.
Sindac said Flormata is an epitome of the true Filipino gentleman, as he promotes healthy lifestyle among PNP personnel.
“The PNP supports individual endeavors of policemen, especially if it will bring good feedback for the organization. This (pageant) will show the human side of the policemen,” Sindac said.
