MMDA to improve bus hub

Mike Frialde - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday it would put additional amenities in its Southwest Interim Transport Terminal in Parañaque City.

Inspecting the 24-hour integrated bus terminal on its second day of operation, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said two city buses would be allowed at a time to park at the terminal bay to accommodate senior passengers and those with disabilities.

Tolentino said this would spare senior commuters from having to walk for three minutes from the integrated provincial bus terminal to the city bus hub at the Uniwide Coastal Mall.

“We will station some city buses at the terminal to pick up passengers from Cavite and Batangas so they don’t have to walk to the city bus terminal. We will make more improvements to smoothen the operation of the terminal,” he added.

The MMDA got flak from commuters on Tuesday as confusion and chaos marred the opening of the bus hub.
