3 suspects nabbed in P3-million Pasig drug raid

-

MANILA, Philippines - Police arrested three people and confiscated 300 grams of shabu with a street value of P3 million during a raid in Pasig city Wednesday.

The raid was part of the campaign of the Eastern Police District (EPD) to neutralize a drug syndicate believed being operated through “remote control” by alleged drug den operator Amin Imam Boratong, who is currently behind bars.

EPD director Chief Superintendent Lino Calingasan said Ombay Dimal Mama, Badir Sangba-an, and Panok Kamed are being interrogated.

Calingasan said Mama is second on the Pasig City police’s list of drug suspects, with drug users from as far as Taguig and Caloocan pointing to Mama as their alleged pusher.

At least 30 members of the EPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and Special Operations Group (SOG) raided a house on Dahlia street in the Royal Villas Garden Subdivision at about 5:30 p.m., armed with a search warrant.

“We have placed Mama under surveillance operation for a long time. We saw to it that he was in the area when we conducted the raid so he would land in jail,” SOG chief Inspector Roger Garcia.

He said the house is near the city’s public market and around 20 meters away from the drug den along F. Soriano street in Barangay Sto. Tomas that has been raided twice by government agents.

Mama admitted to PO1 Angelo Regio that he was peddling drugs since he rented the house in 2007. – Non Alquitran
