Canadian mayor to unveil sisterhood marker in QC

-
A 24-man delegation from the city of New Westminster, British Colombia in Canada, led by its mayor, will unveil at the Quezon City Hall grounds tomorrow a totem pole which will serve as a marker for the city sisterhood ties forged 12 years ago.

New Westminster Mayor Wayne Right and his party will also make a courtesy call on Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. and other city officials on the eve of the 65th founding anniversary of the city.

"There will be a groundbreaking of the New Westminster marker after the flagraising ceremony, " said Nathan Zulueta, co-chairman of the anniversary celebration executive committee.

Zulueta, who is also the president of the Quezon City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that after the unveiling, the visitors will proceed to the Quezon City Memorial Circle for a flower offering ceremony and will join Mayor Belmonte for breakfast, lunch with the city council, led by Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista, and dinner with the Quezon City business group.

The visit of New Westminster officials is among the activities for the week-long Quezon City anniversary celebration, which winds up on Oct 12.

Other highlights include the Gabi ng Parangal for outstanding individuals who have rendered significant accomplishments in the city and services to its residents.

The city government will also hold a free concert at the City Hall grounds. – Perseus Echeminada
