Bibles for cops

Can the Bible do the trick?

Believing that the Holy Book can make a profound change in the lives of their men and make them better human beings and public servants, around 200 copies of the Holy Bible were distributed by the Northern Police District Office (NPDO) to its personnel during flag-raising ceremonies yesterday.

NPDO director Chief Superintendent Marcelino Franco Jr. said the reading of the bible is hoped to make a significant change in the lives of the rank and file.

"We hope that by reading the holy scriptures, our policemen would become better persons, predisposed to help and do good to everyone in the community," Franco said. The general said that the practice of reading the bible should guide them in their daily lives particularly as they exercise their duties everyday.

"But, of course, they have to read it, meditate on it, and practice what it teaches, if it is to make a real meaningful effect on their lives," the general said.

The copies were donated by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to the local police. — Jerry Botial
