License processing eased

-
Transportation Secretary Leandro Mendoza said yesterday the public can now be served better with the opening of the Land Tansportation Office’s One-Stop-Shop at the LTO Central Office in East Avenue, Quezon City.

Citing reports from LTO chief Assistant Secretary Roberto Lastimoso, Mendoza said the One-Stop-Shop will allow the public to renew their driver’s license without having to line up or go to the LTO district office.

"With the One-Stop-Shop, people can renew their driver’s license for only 30 minutes compared to the usual three to six months it used to take," Mendoza said.

He said the One-Stop-Shop aims to provide convenience and accessibility to the people as part of the Macapagal-Arroyo administration’s effort to improve the government’s service.

"This is part of the thrust of the government not only to provide transparency and accountability to the public but also to reduce the time being spent by the people in transacting business in the different agencies, making it more comfortable and hassle free to them," Mendoza added.

The LTO One-Stop-Shop was launched in partnership with Stradcom Corp., the proponent for the LTO-Information Technology (LTO-IT) project, and AMPI-Mega Data Corp.

Last year, the LTO opened its first One-Stop-Shop at SM City Pampanga in San Fernando, Pampanga.

Mendoza noted that the LTO One-Stop-Shop in Pampanga, allows the public near the area, especially those living in the province, to renew their driver’s license, get student permit, and renew motor vehicle registration without having to line up or go to the LTO office, adding that it is open even on weekends.
