Another man ‘kills’ self in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines – A man was reported to have committed suicide by shooting himself in Zone Lato, Barangay Calawisan, Lapu-Lapu City on Sunday morning.

Allan Rabor, 35, a native of San Fernando town in southern Cebu was found dead by his 8-year-old son at their living room around 10:30 a.m., according to Police Officer 3 Lydo Pinos, homicide investigator at the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

"Gikan nagduwa ang bata sa gawas. Posibleng nakadungog sa buto, mao nisulod siya sa balay. Nakit-an niya iyahang papa nagkadugo," Pinos told The FREEMAN.

Rabor sustained a gunshot wound to the right side of his head with the bullet exiting through the left side, said Pinos.

Rabor's neighbor, Marwin Baguio, 34, told the police he was cooking lunch in his kitchen around that time and thought the blast came from a firecracker, until the child went to his house.

"Nagtuo siya nga pabuto ra. Nisumbong man ang usa ka otso-anyos nga anak ni Rabor ngadto ni Baguio nga iyahang papa nagkadugo," Pinos said.

Baguio went to Rabor's house curiously but was shocked to see the latter in the living room bathed in blood with a bottle of beer beside him.

This prompted Baguio to call and ask police assistance.

Rabor may possibly have been under the influence of alcohol that he decided to kill himself, Pinos said. But they are yet to determine the exact reason of Rabor's alleged suicide, he added.

"Based sa live-in partner, wala sila kahibaw ngano, unya wala pu’y suicide note," said Pinos.

"Pagkabuntag, nagkuyog ni siya ug iyahang live-in partner. Nag-express sa iyahang love nga mura og nanamilit," he added.

In the crime scene, police found a .45 caliber pistol, a magazine and an empty shell of the said firearm.

No signs of foul play were found during investigation, Pinos said.

Rabor's body was sent to Surelife Funeral Homes in Barangay Pajo for autopsy.

Last Friday, Christopher Amistad, 34, of Barangay Agus also committed suicide after learning that his live-in partner found another man.

Amistad was previously charged with robbery cases and released from Lapu-Lapu City Jail two months ago. (FREEMAN)
