‘IQ’ scholars given grants

Flor Z. Perolina - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Scholars of Iskolar Quisumbing (IQ) Educational Assistance Program, numbering 1,500, received Sunday their allowance for this semester.

The turnover ceremony was held at the covered court of the Benedicto College where the scholars each received P2,500 in educational assistance for the first semester of school year 2013-2014.

Each recipient receives P2,500 every semester and will continue to do so until he graduates from college.

Sixth district Rep. Luis Gabriel Quisumbing providing quality and affordable education tops his priorities.

Underprivileged students from barangays in the city of Mandaue and the municipalities of Consolacion and Cordova can avail of the scholarship and enroll in any university or college in the province of Cebu.

“I encourage students to make good use of their educational assistance and study hard. Serve the community and work together for the development of the 6th district of Cebu,” Quisumbing said.

Quisumbing also thanked DSWD-7director Mercedita Habagat for the support in the implementation of the IQ Educational Assistance Program. (FREEMAN)
