MANILA, Philippines -- Matty Erolon hit a go-ahead triple with 30.7 seconds to go as the Adamson Soaring Falcons escaped the La Salle Green Archers, 63-60, in their UAAP Season 89 men’s basketball clash Sunday evening at the Blue Eagle Gym in Quezon City.

Erolon carried the offense for Adamson in the game, scoring 14 points, but none was bigger than his go-ahead trey.

With the ballgame tied at 58-all, Adamson forced a La Salle turnover that gave them a shot at the lead.

Erolon then took matters into his own hands, using a screen from Precious Jonah that shook him free from the defense of JC Macalalag.

This set the guard up for an open triple from straight away, which found the bottom of the net and gave Adamson the 61-58 lead.

On the other end, the Falcons forced La Salle’s Jacob Cortez to a tough 3-point attempt which missed.

The Green Archers then hacked Manu Anabo and sent him to the free throw line, which turned into insurance charities, 63-58, with 9.3 seconds left.

A Henry Agunanne putback sliced the deficit to three, 60-63, with four seconds remaining, but the Green Archers opted not to foul in the next possession as Adamson melted the clock.

Matthew Montebon had 11 points for the Soaring Falcons. Anabo added markers eight in the victory.

Cortez and Agunanne teamed up for La Salle with 12 points each. The former had four rebounds and four assists while committing five turnovers, while the latter had 10 boards.

Adamson rose to 4-3 in the standings after the first round of eliminations, while the defending champions slid to 3-4.
