San Nicolas fire affects 6 homes

CEBU, Philippines — Six houses were affected by a fire that broke out yesterday along South Road corner Cabreros Street in Barangay Basak San Nicolas, Cebu City, with the blaze causing an estimated ?152,000 in property damage.

According to Fire Officer 2 Dave Kirvy Miñoza, fire/arson investigator of the Cebu City Fire Station, five of the six affected structures were damaged in the fire.

The blaze affected an estimated area of 400 square meters and displaced or affected 11 families, comprising a total of 54 individuals, based on the latest count recorded.

The affected property was identified as being owned and occupied by Glenn Villareal.

The Cebu City Fire Station received the report of the fire at 11:11 A.M. Firefighters immediately departed the station at 11:12 A.M. and arrived at the scene at 11:18 A.M.

Upon their arrival, the fire was placed under first alarm. Firefighters then worked to contain the flames, which were brought under control at 11:45 A.M.

The fire was eventually declared completely out at 12:23 P.M., more than an hour after it was first reported to the fire station.

The fire affected residential structures along the area of South Road and Cabreros Street, where firefighters conducted operations to prevent the blaze from spreading further to nearby structures.

Despite the extent of the fire, no deaths or injuries were reported in the incident, according to the fire station’s report.
