DOLE eyes virtual job fairs
MANILA, Philippines — With mass gatherings still banned due to the pandemic, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is looking at holding online job fairs across the country in celebration of Labor Day on May 1.
According to DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay, they are now preparing for the conduct of virtual job fairs to give job seekers an opportunity for employment.
“We are already preparing for a massive job fair for May 1. It will be different this time due to the pandemic, where mass gatherings are prohibited,” she said at a public briefing Friday.
Tutay noted that regional directors of DOLE and Public Employment Service Office (PESOs) are now looking for employers who may want to participate in the job fairs.
Prior to the pandemic, DOLE had organized simultaneous job fairs in different regions where local and overseas jobs were being offered to job hunters.
The official added they are also planning to hold a job summit on Labor Day to lay down the recovery plan of the government for the work force.
“Employers, labor and the government shall present our employment recovery agenda,” she maintained.
