Duterte, Cabinet taste Korean ‘lugaw’
SEOUL – Over two servings of porridge during the state dinner Monday night hosted by South Korean President Moon Jae-in, President Duterte capped a successful three-day visit that marked the renewed and strengthened relations between the two countries.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque Jr. said Duterte was happy about the outcome of the official visit and thanked the South Korean leader for his graciousness.
Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III said the President and Moon were able to establish good rapport during the state dinner following bilateral talks, signing of agreements and the issuance of joint statements at the Cheong Wa Dae or Blue House, the official residence of the South Korean president.
Roque, for his part, said the mood was upbeat during the dinner as they talked over six courses that included two types of what he described as “lugaw” or porridge.
