Storm signals in 10 areas as 'Urduja' nears Samar

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 1 has been raised over 10 areas in Luzon and the Philippines as Tropical Depression Urduja slowly approaches Samar.
In a Severe Weather Bulletin issued early Thursday morning, Pagasa said Urduja was 175k east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar as of 4 a.m.
The tropical depression is moving west at 8kph and has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 65 kph.
Signal No. 1 has been raised over the following areas:
Luzon
- Catanduanes
- Albay
- Sorsogon
- Masbate
Visayas
- Eastern Samar
- Northern Samar
- Samar
- Biliran
- Leyte
- Southern Leyte
Urduja can be expected to bring moderate to heavy rain within its 400-km diameter and scattered to widespread rains can be expected over the Visayas, parts of Bicol, Caraga and Northern Mindanao in the next 24 hours.
Moderate to rough seas in the eastern seaboard of the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas pose a danger to fisherfolk and small craft, Pagasa said.
