DICT to audit gov’t websites
MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) will audit websites of national and local government agencies to look into the accessibility of information.
“We’re trying to make sure that we develop standards for government websites in purview that this is going to be accessed by everyone,” Alana Ramos, officer-in-charge of the DICT program monitoring and evaluation and statistical division, said in a forum on the gender digital divide in Quezon City on Thursday.
“We are partnering with private stakeholders who help us assess the websites. In fact, this 2017, the DICT has committed to assess 500 websites that are hosted right now in the DICT server,” she added.
Ramos said the DICT would also monitor the web presence of government agencies.
“Ideally all national government agencies and local government units have websites and we’re currently monitoring that as well, because we’d like to achieve a 100 percent target for all government entities to be online,” she said.
