Enrile rushed to Makati hospital

MANILA, Philippines - Detained Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile was rushed to the Makati Medical Center (MMC) early Thursday due to pneumonia, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
 
PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent  Generoso Cerbo Jr. said the police organization authorized the transfer after the senator did not respond to the medication given to him at the PNP General Hospital.
 
Cerbo said Enrile was transferred around 3 a.m. from the police camp's hospital to the MMC.
  
Cerbo noted a standing resolution of the Sandiganbayan giving the PNP the authority to order Enrile's transfer in emergency cases.
 
Enrile has been under hospital arrest for plunder and graft cases in connection with the P10 billion pork barrel scam.
