Jamby lists 18 firms owned by deceased aunt

MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Jamby Madrigal identified yesterday at least 18 local corporations owned by her late aunt, Consuelo “Chito” Madrigal.

In a report to the Makati City Regional Trial Court and the Securities and Exchange Commission, the senator identified the firms as Aquatic Food Center, Inc.; Ceus Realty Corp.; Chela Realty Corp.; Chine Realty Corp.; Chirpy Realty Corp.; C. Hito Realty Corp.; Chiton Realty Corp.; Chloe Realty Corp.; Cicada Realty Corp.; Coko Realty Corp.; Cumulus, Inc.; Fuerte Holdings, Inc.; Marco Realty Corp.; Mascot Realty Corp.; MCM Realty Corp.; Puvis Realty Corp.; Rama Realty Co., Inc.; and the Sumac Real Estate Group.

Ernesto Francisco Jr., Senator Madrigal’s lawyer, said all 18 companies own properties and numerous bank accounts not mentioned in the billionaire’s will that the Makati court had probated.

Chito Madrigal’s two properties in Forbes Park, Makati alone are believed to be worth P200 million each, he added.

In a manifestation with the court yesterday, Francisco said based on the court’s own ruling, properties left by the deceased not identified in her will shall be covered by the rules on legal succession.

“Accordingly, on  the basis of the foregoing order, none of the properties of the deceased Consuelo P. Madrigal, including the said shares of stock and the properties of the said corporations, shall be transferred or in any manner disposed of without prior approval from the Honorable Court,” read the manifestation.

The shares of stocks in the 18 firms identified by Senator Madrigal cannot be transferred or in any manner disposed of without the approval of Judge Oscar Pimentel of Makati Regional Trial Court, Francisco said in his letters to SEC Director Benito Cataran of the Company Registration and Monitoring Department and Assistant Director Gerardo del Rosario of the Corporate Filings and Records Division. – Michael Punongbayan
