MANILA, Philippines — Brothers Miguel and Paolo Guico of original Pilipino music band Ben&Ben wrote a protest song regarding the bloody killing of a mother and son in the hands of a police officer in Tarlac.

In the band’s Twitter account, Miguel and Paolo were seen singing the song “Kapangyarihan.”

“Akala niyo ba, ang kapangyarihan, ay nasa inyo? sino ba kayo?” the band captioned the video.

They also used the hashtag “#StopTheKillingsPH #JusticeForGregorioFamily #EndPoliceBrutalityNow,” the online movement related to the killing of Sonya Gregorio and her son Frank Anthony by Police Senior Master Sgt. Jonel Nuezca.

In other Tweets, Ben&Ben posted the lyrics of the song.

“Akala niyo ba, ang kapangyarihan ay nasa inyo? Sino ba kayo? Di naman kami nagkulang sa aming pag-uunawa. Di ka namin isusuka kung hindi ka pa sukdulan. Huwag niyong tapakan ang katarungan,” part of the lyrics read.

“Magwawagi ang katotohanan. Ang kadiliman, ay ibabagsak. Nagsisilbi ka dapat, nagsisilbi ka dapat. Ibon na may layang lumipad di mo na makukulong. Magwawagi, ang katotohanan. Ang kadiliman ay ibabagsak,” it added.

Paolo and Miguel have been vocal in different national issues. Last June, Paolo urged Health Secretary Francisco Duque to resign for his inefficient response to the COVID-19 crisis.
