For her evening gown competition, Catriona wore a red gown, which drew inspiration from Mt. Mayon of her hometown Albay.

"She is celebrating her roots – she is celebrating Albay! The prominent and iconic Mayon Volcano is the penultimate inspiration for this creation. It is dubbed as the ‘perfect cone’ because of its symmetric conical form," designer Mak Tumang said on Facebook.

The Philippines awaits the arrival of newly crowned Miss Universe Catriona Gray at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, just a few days after the prestigious pageant in Bangkok, Thailand.

"I just want to say thank you to the Philippines, my country. You know, you guys have supported me all through this and if not for you, I would not have had the endurance or the spirit to do what I do," Gray says in a video released earlier today.
