'[Atom] will always be a Kapamilya,' says the network

MANILA, Philippines — News reporter Atom Araullo is leaving the "kapamilya" network and moving to its its rival, GMA.

"Working with ABS-CBN for over a decade has been an amazing adventure," Atom said in a statement released by ABS-CBN on Friday.

"However, the time has come to explore emerging opportunities and challenges beyond the organization."

Even as he is leaving the television giant, Atom is thankful for the opportunity he was given. He served as a reporter and show host as a kapamilya.

"Although I am taking a new path, I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the company that helped me become the journalist I am today," he said.

He only has one message for his network of origin: "To all the hardworking men and women of ABS-CBN, maraming maraming salamat."

He also posted his statement in his Instagram account.

Last year, it has been reported that Atom allegedly resigned from his "reportorial duties" in the network but remained a talent of the network.

In a separate statement, ABS-CBN said it has allowed the journalist "to explore new interests in film, broadcast, and digital media outside of the company."

"Atom says the training and exposure he got from the network as reporter and TV host have equipped him to try out other opportunities in the media industry here and abroad," the statement read.

"ABS-CBN wishes Atom all the best in his future endeavors. He will always remain a Kapamilya."
