Backroom artists' last hurrah for '09

MANILA, Philippines - Backroom artists end the year with a bang. Ai-Ai delas Alas stars in Star Cinema’s Ang Tanging Pamilya with former President Joseph Estrada, Sam Milby, Toni Gonzaga and Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao. The movie, directed by Wenn Deramas, is now showing in theaters. Aside from corporate shows, Ai-Ai is taping ABS-CBN’s Agimat Presents…Pepeng Agimat where she plays Jolo Revilla’s mother. She will have a post-birthdaay concert at Zirkoh Morato on Nov. 20. She is a special guest in Lea Salonga’s concert Lea…Your Songs on Dec. 11 and 12 at PICC. Ai-Ai endorses Maggi Magic Sarap, Smart, 555 Carne Norte, 555 Beef Loaf and Calayan Surgi Center.

Erik Santos is regularly seen on A.S.A.P. ‘09. Aside from corporate shows, he is busy on his latest album, Erik Santos: The Jim Brickman Song Book under Star Records. He will have a back-to-back concert with Sitti titled Erik & Sitti… Extraordinary Songs on Nov. 21 at Aliw Theater. He will fly to Singapore on Nov. 22 to perform for a Singaporean company and to Japan for a series of shows from Nov. 23 to 28. Erik endorses BPI and Calayan Surgi Center.

Aside from hosting corporate shows, Mariel Rodriguez is a regular fixture on TV. She entertains audiences with her lively hosting in Wowowee, Entertainment Live, PBB and PBB über. Mariel endorses Vitress, Calayan Surgi Ceter and Meg*.

Bianca Gonzalez is one of the most sought-after young female hosts. Aside from corporate shows, she hosts Studio 23’s Y Speak, ABS-CBN’s Entertainment Live, PBB and PBB Uplate, Cinema News Alert: Weekend Edition and TFC Connect. Bianca endorses Meg* and Calayan Surgi Center.

Sitti is busy with corporate shows and A.S.A.P. ‘09. She will serenade audiences from Nov. 4 to Nov. 15, Nov. 21 (with Erik, Dec. 5 (Casino Pagcor Heritage Hotel) and Dec. 10 (Pan Pacific Hotel in Subic).

Aside from hosting corporate shows, Pooh entertains audiences with his side-splitting punch lines and riotous performance in Banana Split.

K Brosas, KC Concepcion’s the best friend in Lovers in Paris, stars in Ang Tanging Pamilya. K. is busy with several shows: Nov. 19 (she will host the Ad Congress with Drew Arellano in Subic), Nov. 21 (Pagcor Casino in Balibago, Angeles) and Dec. 12 (Pagcor Casino Heritage).

Aside from corporate shows, Rufa Mae Quinto is a mainstay of GMA 7’s S.O.P., Bubble Gang and Showbiz Central. She is the featured artist on GMA 7’s SRO Moshi Moshi.

Gelli de Belen hosts SIS with sister Janice and Carmina Villaroel. Gelli endorses Alaska, PLDT, Swift Hotdog, Knorr, Caltrate and Asia Yaw Sho (a Japanese convenient store in Japan). She is busy with corporate hostings.

Drew Arellano hosts corporate and TV shows like Unang Hirit and Balikbayan. He will host the Ad Congress in Subic on Nov. 19. He endorses MSE Apparel.

Aside from doing corporate shows, Amy Perez hosts Kabuhayan Swak na Swak and DZMM’s About Me and You. She is part of the new ABS-CBN show Showtime.

Dominic Ochoa continues to hone his craft as an actor while being busy as an entrepreneur with his ice-cream business called Thumbs-Up. Aside from corporate shows, he is a mainstay on ABS-CBN’s May Bukas Pa.

Ariel Rivera is part of GMA 7’s Rosalinda. He is busy recording his Christmas album under Sony BMG. He has a show in Sultan Kudarat with Pops Fernandez on Nov. 22. Ariel also juggles his time doing corporate shows.

Dawn Zulueta is busy with her compilation of poetry reading in DVD. She endorses Robinsons Department Store, Just Jewels, Marie France and Facial Care.

Gretchen Barretto returns as an actress after promoting her successful albums Unexpected and Complicated. She is preparing for her new ABS-CBN teleserye with sister Claudine.

Tintin Bersola-Babao will soon give birth to a boy. After that, she will shoot a commercial for a baby product.

Ina Feleo is part of the top-rating Dahil may Isang Ikaw.

Arnold Reyes, 2009 Cinemalaya’s Best Supporting Actor, is shooting an indie film. He is seen in Lovers in Paris. He will start taping for ABS-CBN’s Precious Hearts Romances.

Lloyd Zaragoza is seen in Precious Hearts Romances Presents Somewhere In My Heart. He is also in PAGCOR’s world-class theatrical productions, Flow.

Director Laurice Guillen is doing a Star Cinema film starring Kim Chiu, Angelica Panganiban, Derek Ramsay and Gabby Concepcion. For Atlantis Productions’ 2010 season, director Bobby Garcia is preparing for the repeat of the musical stage play Avenue Q and the musicals Legally Blonde and Xanadu. Director GB Sampedro is fresh from the successful showing of Astig in the 14th Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea.

The CompanY and Verni Varga are busy with corporate shows. Keanna Reeves is doing movies Wapakman with Manny Pacquiao and Juan with Dolphy.
