Things coming up roses for Donita
August 3, 2001 | 12:00am
Donita Rose is unstoppable. Even if shes based in Singapore, where she works as an MTV Asia VJ, Donita is constantly visible in the local entertainment scene and is even busier than ever.
Recently, Donita has added another TV commercial to her long list of product endorsements. She is now taking a sales pitch for Pepsi Cola, which ranks her as their main celebrity endorser.
Donita is indeed making a lot of breakthroughs as an artist. She is the first Filipino entertainer to grace the covers of such magazine as Time. This month she is on the cover of FHM and in celebration of Seventeenth Philippines first anniversary, Donita is the first Filipina to land on the cover. The same honor she received from Cosmopolitan magazine. She hosted the party at the newly-opened Dish venue at the Rockwell Plant to the delight of the fans.
In FHMs latest survey of the Worlds 100 Sexiest Women, Donita landed on the No. 2 spot, the highest that a Filipina has reached in the survey. International singer-actress Jennifer Lopez was topnotcher.
Donita was recently interviewed on CNNs regional chat show, Talk Asia, hosted by Dalton Tanonaka. She was featured with two other VJs from MTV Asia. The interview was aired all over the world.
But hosting and product endorsing are not the only tasks up Donitas sleeves. Viva Films recently offered her a movie with Regine Velasquez. Regal Films has an existing offer for a role with Mark Anthony Fernandez. Donita was last seen on the big screen in the Hollywood production, Legacy, where she co-starred opposite Baywatch actor David Hasselhoff. The movie was shown two years ago and is now being shown on HBO and Cinemax.
Soon, Donita will be visible even in cyberspace as her website is now nearing completion. This would give her fans the chance to see and know more about her. The website will be launched via a big event early next month in Glorietta, to be supported by Globe Telecom.
Her stint as an MTV Asia VJ has opened doors for a lot of opportunities for Donita. She recently hosted the Indonesian Music Awards in Jakarta. She has travelled all over the world representing MTV. Apart from having the rare opportunity of interviewing celebrities like 98 Degrees, Jon Bon Jovi, The Cranberries, Carson Daly, and the Offspring, among others, and hosting concerts of Ricky Martin and Westlife, she was also honored to meet and have tea with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth of England last year in a polo match where she guested as a muse. She recently interviewed Baz Luhrmann, director of Nicole Kidmans latest movie, Moulin Rouge in Singapore.
Donita recently had a well-deserved vacation in the United States, but she arrived in Manila recently and is back in the showbiz grind. Her brother, Paul, flew in from the United States to spend a month in Manila with her. Locally, she finished a stint with GMA 7s Larawan, and is swamped with offers for television guestings and live shows apart from commercial endorsements and renewals and magazine covers.
