Stocks close 0.79 pct lower

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - Philippine shares closed 0.79 percent lower today.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index lost 53.52 points to 6,704.93. The all-share index also declined by 27.66 points, or 0.68 percent, to 4,030.14.

Trading volume reached 1.58 billion shares worth P7.69 billion ($175.25 million).

There were 53 gainers, 131 losers while 35 stocks closed flat.
