Remolino, Sotto to get Siklab awards
CEBU, Philippines — Two young but promising Cebuano athletes will be feted in the Siklab Sports Youth Awards slated on June 27 at the Century Park Hotel in Manila.
They are junior triathlete Andrew Kim Remolino and rising track and field star Rick Angelo Sotto.
The 18-year-old Remolino, who have won various local and international races since he started his career as a triathlete in 2015, is the Philippine Olympic Committee's Young Hero awardee in the field of triathlon.
Remolino, a national athlete under the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) and member of the Go For Gold-Talisay Luigi Triathlon Group said the award is a great honor and an opportunity to inspire his fellow young athletes.
“It’s a great honor to be part of the young athletes awardee. I was shocked when they notify me about it," Remolino said. “This recognition is a self booster because not all young athletes will receive such award and I can also inspire my co-athletes and my fellow youth to be the best they can be.”
Last February, Remolino was crowned as Male Youth Triathlete of the Year during the 5th Annual SBR SwimBikeRun.PH Awards.
Sotto, on the other hand, will be honored with the Batang Siklab trophy as PSC Children’s Games for Peace awardee in athletics.
