MegaBond now 7-0 in A+EBA cagefest

CEBU, Philippines – Team MegaBond, composed of Civil Engineers, slammed the Architects-laden CMI, 71-54, to extend its unbeaten streak to seven games in the Architects+Engineers Basketball Association's 1st Corporate Cup last Saturday at the University of San Carlos-Main gym.

Loreneil Tequin unloaded  26 points on top of 10 rebounds for MegaBond, which ripped the game apart using a sizzling second-quarter run. MegaBond led by only two points after the first period, 18-16, but dropped a 24-8 bomb to break the game wide open at halftime, 42-24.

CMB fought back in the third canto, but MegaBond kept its poise and composure towards the closing moments of the contest to come up with a 17-point romp.

Jun Villacorta had 12 points, six rebounds and four assists for CMI, which stayed at solo second despite the setback with a 5-2 win-loss record.

In the other games, Dorma upended Davies Paints, 71-66, while Fenestram whipped Phoenix, 67-59. Dorma now holds a 4-3 slate and Fenestram improved to 3-4. Davies Paints slumped to its fifth loss against only two victories, while Phoenix is still without win in seven games. — EBV (FREEMAN)
