The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A record field of more than 500 dance athletes from all over the world are all set for a showdown as Cebu WDSF DanceSport Open and 8th DanceSport sa Sugbu unfold today at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.

Cebu City Sports Commission chairman Edward Hayco said this is the biggest number of entries that have for this annual event, so far.

The competitors would have been even higher if Dancesport-Team Cebu City did not hold eliminations for the Dancesport sa Sugbu.

Aside from the young aspiring dance athletes of Cebu, the battle has also attracted a good number of foreign participants led by Spain's Edgar Borjas and Alina Nowak.

The other countries seeing action are Australia, Malaysia,Poland, Netherlands, Hongkong and Spain.

Among the Cebu bets to watch out for are Pearl Caneda and Wilbert Aunzo as well as event's poster boy and girl, Ansel Estellore and Mary Desiree Seraga, who will showcase their wares in the open division.

Spicing up the show is the dancesport competition of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) that is being included in today's event.— Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN)
