Convergys 1, Lexmark blast foes in E-League

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines- The Convergys 1 Wolves shackled the 1 & 1 Marauders, 76-67, while the Lexmark Stallions galloped past the Calltek Trojans, 69-37, in the 10th CSCC E-League men's basketball tournament last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

No player cashed in double figures for Convergys 1, but their teamwork was evident in crushing 1&1. They never relinquished a 14-point lead at halftime, 42-28, on the way to earn a share of the second spot in Division 1 with defending champion Aegis Vipers on identical 6-1 win-loss records.

Jan Isiah Gabest scattered 20 points, while Jude Lorenz Camposo banged in 15 markers but their effort went for naught as 1&1 suffered its fourth loss in six starts.

On the other hand, Sylvester Millevo had 15 points and Ralph Loren Martinez added 14 points as Lexmark bettered its win-loss record to 5-2. The Stallions were in complete command of the match after they got off to a hot 28-10 start. They sustained their sizzling offensive the rest of the way to come up with a 32-point blowout. Mark Louise Gelez had 11 points and five rebounds for Calltek, which dropped to 2-5.

In the other games, the Sykes Pioneer blasted the listless Microsourcing Bullies, 88-41, for its only second victory in seven games while the Teleperformance Lions won by default over the 24/7 Cagers.

Ricardo Masiglat Jr. paced Sykes with 14 points followed by Rey Louie Leopardo with 12 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Ray Oliver Castañares was the other bright spot for Sykes with 11 points and a tournament-best 11 assists spiced up with five rebounds. —/EBV) (FREEMAN)
