Talisay karatekas shine in Batang Pinoy

CEBU, Philippines - Team Talisay City made its presence felt with two golds, one silver and three bronzes in karatedo event of the Batang Pinoy National Finals recently in Bacolod City.

Gerald Augustine Baclaan bannered the triumphant Talisaynon karatekas with two golds via the team kata competition (synchronize) mixed age category with Felix Calipusan and Jeremy Nopre and in the boys kata advance 44 kgs class.

The 14-year-old Baclaan, a student of Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC), also won bronze in the boys kumite 44 kgs division. The other two bronzes were delivered by Calipusan, a 13-year-old student of Punta Princesa National High School, in the boys kata advance and kumite both in the 40 kgs  category.

Talisay's lone silver was handed over by Nopre in the boys kata advance 53 kgs. class. The 12-year-old Nopre studies at the Virgen dela Escuelas Pias.

The team was led by their head coach and trainor Rhodee Antoinette Saavedra and assistant coach Ky-Za Ocampo.— EBV (FREEMAN)
