Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Right after the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CVIRAA) Meet, another multi-sport event will take place in the Queen City of the South this time for the collegiate athletes via the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Regional Games this weekend mainly at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Bohol is supposed to host the event but they could no longer carry out the task because they're still in the recovery process following the powerful  earthquake that hit the province last year.

"Actually, we were no longer expecting to have a regional games. All of sudden, Fr. Vic Uy, the PRISAA-VII president, called up and told us that we will do it. Bohol's reciliency pushed us to be alive and kicking in pursuing this event," said PRISAA-VII head of the secretariat Bernard Ricablanca in a press conference yesterday at the USC main campus.

Just like in the previous editions of the annual tournament, it's going to be a three-way fight for Cebu, Bohol and Dumaguete.

The women's basketball as well as batted sports like softball and baseball will no longer be played since only Bohol has a team.

Some of Cebu's amateur boxers are also heading straight to the National Finals set in Tangub City on April 6 to 12.

Other events to be contested are athletics, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, dancesport, football, karatedo, tennis, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball. (FREEMAN)
