Singwangcha fighters set to invade Siquijor

CEBU, Philippines - Six ring gladiators from Team Singwangcha are bound for Siquijor Island to strut their punching wares against separate foes in the 1st Congresswoman Doc Anne Pernes Cup on September 30 at the Siquijor Capital Square.

Fighting under the tutelage of the eagle-eyed Cebuano trainer Brix Flores of the Noy Pacing Flores Stable, Gherpaul Valero, Ardie Boyose, Neil John Tabanao, Joey Canoy, Rajah Renoel Pael and Bryan Samson are all set to dazzle fight fans of Siquijor.

The Sarangani Province-native Valero (15-14-3, 10KOs), who is coming off a split decision victory over former WBC flyweight champion Sonny Boy Jaro last August 1 at the Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino, will face Dipolog's Jomar Ministerio (5-5, 2KOs) in the main event.

Boyose (7-0, 4KOs), for his part, will try to extend his unbeaten as he battles veteran journeyman Jessie Tuyor (6-11, 3KOs), while Pael (11-0, 4KOs), who is also on a rampage, will take on Raul Posta (8-2, 2KOs) of Iligan City.

Tabanao (4-0, 3KOs) will be tested against Elmar Francisco of Zamboanga City, Canoy will trade punches with Jherald Tuyor (2-14, 1KO), while the Siquijor-native Samson (3-3, 1KO) hopes to make an impression before his hometown followers as he tangles with Darius Elorde (1-1, 1KO).

Five more local bouts have been lineup to entertain the spectators before the explosive pro action.

The slambang card is presented by Thai boxing patron Naris Singwangcha and Rex "Wakee" Salud Promotions International in partnership with Rajah Lapu-Lapu Promotions and the provincial government of Siquijor.

The event is among the highlights of the annual fiesta celebration of Siquijor in honor of its beloved patron St. Francis of Assisi. (FREEMAN)
