CEBU, Philippines - When it rains, it pours.

With lady luck still on her side, 13-year-old Cebuana Ana Patricia "Icamax" Maximo delivered another silver medal for her hometown Cebu City when she placed 2nd in the 3,000 meters Individual Pursuit of the POC-PSC Philippine National Games Track Cycling Championship in the Women Juniors division recently at the Amoranto Velodrome, Quezon City.

She earlier won a silver medal in the 500m Time Trial event.

And with two silver medals under her belt, she made a record as the youngest multiple medal winner in the PNG Track Cycling, a feat made on her first try in the POC-PSC sanctioned national games. The competition is organized by PhilCycling under Pres. Bambol Tolentino.

The Individual Pursuit is an event where two cyclists begin the race from a stationary position on opposite sides of the track. The two riders start at the same time and set off to complete the race distance in the fastest time. The two riders pursue each other attempting to catch the other rider.

Icamax, using her trusted Ridley-Token-Santini racing rig designed by YKKBikes.com, set off in a good start, overtook her opponent midway and completed the 7 1/2 laps race distance in 5:13.84 minutes. Avegail Benosa of Bicol took the gold with a time of 5:10.30 mins while Saralyn Krog of Caloocan settled for bronze with a time of 5:49.29 mins.

Her performance had earned her a possible slot in the national junior team once the Philippine Track Cycling program gets underway.

"How nice if Cebu will soon have its own cycling velodrome so that more people can try the sport," shares the incoming grade 8 student of Sacred Heart School-Hijas de Jesus.

Ridley, Token, Santini, YKK, Bikezilla and Chigo are supporting Icamax in her multi-sport training and competitions. (FREEMAN)
