Unitec now 3-0, Boysen Paints outlasts Durabend

CEBU, Philippines - Criz Matunog sparkled with 22 points and Antonio “Jay-R” Decatoria, Jr. scored 18 as the Unitec Pipes pounded Cebu Home Builders, 91-84, to stay unbeaten after three games in the United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) Corporate Cup Season 6 over the weekend at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) gym.

Ferdinand Tiro contributed 16 points, while Alfred Andrew Tan and Chad Go banged in 11 markers apiece for Unitec, which ripped the game apart as early as in the first period, 32-15. They maintained a 17-point advantage at halftime, 57-40, and never looked back from there onwards.

On the other hand, Michael Cinco fired 34 points, while Richard Badayos and Glicerio Villacorta conspired for 29 points as Boysen Paints upended Durabend Pipes, 106-95, in the first overtime game of the season.

Boysen Paints, thus, jumped to second place in the standings along with Puyat Steel, which also improved its win-loss record to 2-1 after trouncing Matimco, 76-64.    

Paul Romero led Puyat Steel with 16 points, even as four others also cashed in double figures. Fretzel Adlawan finished with 16 points, Ryan Rizarri nailed 15, Byron Lacbayo added 11 and George Silao had 10 as they dealt Matimco its third straight defeat.
