San Vincente wins title in Mabolo caging

CEBU, Philippines - Zaldy Cabalhin and Vincent Baclaan exploded in the final five minutes of the contest to power San Vicente to a 120-104 victory over Estacionan to win the Seniors A crown of the Mabolo Fiesta Cup basketball tournament last Saturday night at the Mabolo Sports Complex.

Earlier, the Sindulan Falcons escaped with a 90-83 victory over the hard-fighting Golden Life to rule the Seniors B (35-above) category.

San Vicente also captured the crown in the juniors division last Friday by hacking out a 101-94 victory over the Lynch, while Magtalisay topped the midget division by beating Lahinglahing in overtime, 60-58.

Cabalhin sizzled for 36 points, while Baclaan finished with 26 points to snatch the MVP award.

Former USPF Panther Jehan Brigoli had a share of the limelight when he bagged the MVP plum in the Seniors B division by leading his team with 14 markers.

Former Cebu City North District Congressman Raul V. del Mar was present to award the trophies and cash prizes assisted by Mabolo barangay captain Rey Ompoc along with councilors Raul Cosido and Racquel "Ating" Ruiz.
