SRFC, Mobel House co-champ in JCAD bootfest

-

CEBU, Philippines - San Roque Football Club and Mobel House shared the top honors in the ladies open division of the 1st JCAD (JC Armamento Development) Arsenal Cup 2010 football tournament the other day at San Roque Parish field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

Tournament organizer Renato Maambong said that the playing field is already dark when the two teams were about to clash for the title. Since they could not extend it the next days because there are still a lot of categories to be contested, they decided to declare SRFC and Mobel as co-champ.

The decision was unanimously agreed upon by coaches Melchor Wenceslao of Mobel House and Antonio Trebol of SRFC.

On the other hand, the Francis Ramirez-mentored Pomeroy manned by SAC-SMB awardee Abellana National School, secured the Boys 17 title after overpowering Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) FC, 2-1.

Pomeroy’s Boys 14 comrades were not as lucky though as they fell prey to Sacred Heart School-Jesuit of coach Adonius Alonsagay, 2-1, in the final.

Paref-Springdale of coach Mario Ceniza prevailed over Barili FC, 3-1, to clinch the crown in the Boys 12 category.

“We would like to make this as an annual event since we were able to see how the footballers of Cebu embraced the sport. It’s also our way of celebrating our team’s yearly anniversary,” said Maambong.

The tournament is among the highlights of the first year anniversary of Team Arsenal, which was founded by Jay Marabur who is now based in the United Kingdom. — Marigold P. Lebumfacil (THE FREEMAN)
