Teletech stays alive, Convergys draws first blood
CEBU, Philippines - A rematch of last year’s finals is in the offing as defending champion Teletech Titans and runner-up Convergys blasted separate opponents in the best-of-three semifinals of the 5th Inter-BPO Championship at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.
The Teletech Titans kept their title-retention bid alive with a vengeful 51-47 victory over eTelecare in Game, 51-47, while Convergys drew first blood against Aegis People Support, 71-58, to gain a 1-0 upstart in their own race-to-2 series.
Reeling from their stunning 61-68 loss in the series opener, the Titans of Teletech bounced back with fire in their eyes. From a close 13-11 start, they unloaded a sizzling 15-4 rally in the second period to tear the game apart at halftime, 28-15.
Shem Banua topscored for the Titans with 12 markers. Benjie Mancao and Vicente Adolfo had 12 and 11 points, respectively, for eTelecare
The triumvirate of Venerando de la Peña Jr., Marc Pajo and Arnold Esteban Caesar Esteban, on the other hand, connived for 39 points to spur Convergys to triumph.
Mariel Vincent Barrera paced People Support with 11 points followed by Philip George Carabuena with 10.
