Megacryl upsets Powerfloor in UABC Davies Cup

CEBU, Philippines – Megacryl pulled off a 66-56 upset of defending champion Powerfloor, while Liquid Tile and the Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC)-Archi Friends also emerged victorious in the second playdate of the 3rd United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) season billed as the “2nd Davies Cup” at the CEC gym.

Sweet-shooting Alexander Vidal pumped in eight of his 17 points in the final three minutes of the contest to vault Megacryl to its second straight win in as many games.

 Jay-R Decatoria paced Powerfloor with 18 points, 13 rebounds, five assists, two steals and two blocks in an all-around effort albeit for a losing cause.

Liquid Tile, on the other hand, bounced back from its previous setback in style, thrashing Bio-Fresh by 16 points, 62-46, in the same way with SAC-Archi Friends, who squandered an 18-point lead but regrouped in time to frustrate Sun & Rain, 90-80.

Erickson Perez had 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals for Liquid Tile, while Jonas Panerio topscored for SAC-Archi Friends with 26 points, seven assists, three rebounds and two steals.

SAC imports David Lim, Dennis Que, and Dave Ting conspired for 49 points, while Calvin Cordova and Manny Villaruel connived for 15 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and a block.

Michael Cinco was the long bright spot for Sun & Rain with a game-high 29 points on top of seven assists, six rebounds and a block.
