Jumapao shines in HK bowlfest

-

CEBU, Philippines – SAC bowling awardee Jomar Jumapao gave the Philippines its first gold medal in the on-going 11th Asian Schools Championships at the Kong Bowling City in Kowloon Bay.

Jumapao topped the boys’ singles with 1,466 pinfalls, edging Takahito Fukuda of Japan by 57 pins for the gold.

Jumapao torched the lanes with an average of 244.33 in the six-game series.

The young bowler, however, couldn’t maintain his pace as he and partner Kenneth Chan could only manage a seventh place finish in the doubles event.

In the distaff side, Cebu’s Kimberly Mae Dominic Lao rolled 1,305 but missed the bronze by 12 pins. Compatriot Alexis Sy also missed the podium as she finished ninth.

The Cebuanas hope to bounce back into the winning column when play in doubles, team and master’s events. — Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
