Pajo belles into semis in Shakey's volleyball

CEBU, Philippines - The Pajo National High School (PNHS) belles snapped out of their two-game losing streak in style, racking up back-to-back wins to advance into the semifinal round of the 4th Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League National Finals in Bacolod City.

After heartbreaking defeats for University of Sto. Tomas and University of St. La Salle-Bacolod, the Pajo mainstays gained one more lifeline after pummeling Passi in straight sets, 25-22, 25-16, 25-11. They followed it up with a similar 25-7, 25-11, 25-12 demolition of San Jose National High School.

“I am so glad that the girls had already recovered from yesterday’s setback and we were still able to get a semifinal ticket,” said Pajo NHS coach Fr. Rolando T. Manayon.

The PNHS squad is composed of Shakey’s Regional MVP Methosheena Bate, Athena Sucalit, Catherine Marquez, Mary Jane Cortes, Christy Sucalit, Lovely Marie Murillo, Marjorie Coloscos, Charlita Auza, Grethcel Soltones, Jella Jorquia, Jyrah Gae Aroma and Suzette Panis. — Marigold P.
