CCUPA pulls third victory in C.E.B.U. cage tourney

The Cebu Customs United Personnel Association (CCUPA) coasted to its third straight victory in as many games after scorching the Assessment squad, 88-70, in the 35-above division of the Cebu Employees and Brokers Union (CEBU)-Collector's Cup basketball tournament at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

The Assessment side trailed by as much as 20 points at halftime and the best it could muster was to trim the deficit down to only nine points anchored on 30-19 run in the third quarter.

This as the CCUPA of Yoly Cena found its rhythm back into the groove in the closing minute of the game to come up with an 18-point demolition.

In the 35-below category, the Rollway Freighters outsmarted Air21, 79-71.

Diminutive playmaker Jessie Bugtai powered Air 21 to an 11-point lead at halftime, but PJ Urbina, former UC Webmaster Kernn Sesante and Christian Villacastin masterminded a devastating second-half rally that change the complexion of the match in favor of Rollway until the final buzzer.
