City Hall reassesses 93-1 beneficiaries

Sanden J. Anadia - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government has already started the re-assessment for the beneficiaries of 93-1 to formulate Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).

According to Mayor Michael Rama’s legal consultant, Atty. Collin Rosell, the IRR will help provide a path to a solution to the problems of beneficiaries who have not yet fully acquired the lot they occupy.

It will be recalled that some beneficiaries were worried due to the unclear status of their residence.

More than 5,000 homeowners from 11 barangays are involved in the 93-1 land swap deal with the Cebu City government and the Cebu Province.

According to the head of the Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor (DWUP), Engr. Dante Arcilla, that their re-assessment will be finished within this month to find out the current status of the beneficiaries.

Arcilla added that it is one of Rama’s orders that the problem be solved.

As for Rosell’s observation, the issue will rise once the election season is approaching.

Based on the report he received, that of the 5,000 homeowners, there are more than 3,500 of them who have not completed their obligations before.

“Tumong gyud sa kagamhanan nga mahatagan na kini og solusyon,” Rosell said.

The other day, Councilor Raymond Garcia also issued a statement that he is now again holding consultations with representatives of the various homeowners who have expressed their concerns.

“Lawom ni nga hisgotanan kay sa dugay nga mga katuigan human sa termino sa akong amahan, si kanhi mayor, Alvin Garcia, wala na address sa kagamhanan ang issue sa 93-1,” said Garcia.

He added that negotiations will definitely be done in this regard.

“Hopefully, puhon-puhon, uban sa paninguha sa Committee on Housing, diin kita and chairman, ang Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor, ug sa Local Housing Board, which is under the Office of Mayor Mike Rama, and which I co-chair, masulbad na gyud ang tanan,” Garcia added. — GMR (FREEMAN)
