Retired cop shoots elderly, remains at large

CEBU, Philippines —  The police have failed to arrest a retired police officer who shot a senior citizen in the town of Liloan yesterday morning.

The police have conducted a hot pursuit operation against Noel Caparuso Cuyoz, a resident of Barangay Tayud in Liloan.

As of 6 p.m. yesterday, 10 hours since the shooting incident, the Liloan police are still conducting a hot pursuit against the suspect.

Initial investigation revealed that Cuyos shot the victim identified as Anastacio Villafuerte Kuba, 63, who lives in the same barangay.

Witnesses said the suspect immediately fled the area onboard his motorcycle after he shot the victim as early as 8 a.m. yesterday.

Kuba sustained a gunshot wound to his head and was immediately brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center for medical treatment.

Cuyos and Kuba allegedly have previous grudges against each other and that prior to the shooting incident the former was called out by the barangay to settle things between the parties. — GMR (FREEMAN)
