CEBU, Philippines — The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas is confident that it can still file the murder complaints against the self-confessed killer of 16-year-old Christine Lee Silawan even without her parents’ cooperation.

Police Brigadier General Debold Sinas told reporters in a press conference yesterday said that their investigation is meant to solve the crime and not implicate anybody else without concrete evidence.

Christine’s mother, Lourdes, set a condition that she will only cooperate if the police will also file charges against her 17-year-old former boyfriend who was earlier arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

“With or without, them we can still file the charges since it is a public crime,” Sinas said.

To recall, Renato “Renren” Llenes, 43, confessed in the presence of his lawyers of killing Christine in Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City after he was accosted for possession of loose firearms.

Sinas said amid doubts on Llenes’s confession, he is a suspect as he was the one posing as a certain “CJ Diaz” and two other accounts to lure girls including Christine.

“Yes, we can prove he is CJ Diaz. We have shown that he can open the account and two others too,” Sinas said.

Also Sinas, assured there is no bad blood between the PNP and the NBI despite contradicting results of the investigation.

Sinas said they found no evidence linking the 17-year-old ex-boyfriend to the murder of Christine.   But, NBI-7 has reiterated in several reports that it has strong evidence against the 17-year-old, one of which is the DNA result of the bloodstain in his shoes, and of Christine’s parents.

It proved that the 17-year-old was in the crime scene on the day Christine was killed.

“This case will not destroy our relationship with NBI-7. We have a very good relationship,” Sinas said.  (FREEMAN)
