LMP calls for transfer of DepEd-Cebu exec

May Miasco, Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP)-Cebu Chapter is requesting Secretary Leonora Briones of the Department of Education (DepEd) to transfer and reassign Cebu Province Division Superintendent Rhea Mar Angtud.

In a two-page resolution, the group said Angtud failed to establish harmonious relationship with the mayors, who expressed their sentiments over Angtud’s alleged failure to work with the mayors.

"She lacks coordination with the local chief executives as regards to DepEd activities and schools infrastructure projects being implemented in the different municipalities," read the resolution signed by Tuburan Mayor and LMP-Cebu Chapter president Democrito "Aljun" Diamante.

The resolution added that most of the mayors had bad experiences with Angtud that their requests were either denied or ignored by her.

It said that all mayors have been supportive of the projects and activities of DepEd in their respective localities and that the local government units are very active in molding the character of the children, and yet they were not informed of school projects and activities which can be interpreted as lack of coordination, thus lack of respect.

"It is a shared governance, DepEd Province of Cebu should keep a healthy relationship with the local chief executives," the resolution further read.

Angtud, when asked for comment, said she wanted to receive a copy of the resolution first before issuing any statement.

“Dili lang una ko mo-comment ana.  Wala pako kadawat ana (resolution),” she said. — GAN (FREEMAN)
