Man arrested for selling drugs
CEBU, Philippines - A drug peddler was arrested in a raid by elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 on Wednesday at Moalboal Town, Cebu.
Christian Aquino, 21, of Sitio Banilad, barangay Tomonoy, was arrested by the police inside his house.The raid was through an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (TRC) Judge Silvestre Maamo Jr.
The team headed by Chief Inspector Fermin Armendarez seized a cal. 45 pistol and a .38 revolver. Armendarez said packs of suspected shabu and several drug paraphernalia were recovered from Aquino’s house.
Aquino did not resist arrest after he was cornered by the police inside his house where he reportedly transacts business with drug users from their barangay and neighboring areas.
The suspect was placed under surveillance for a few weeks after police received a complaint from a concerned citizen.
In an interview, Aquino admitted he was selling drugs in the area and that he is still “new in the business.” He said most of his patrons are youngsters. He added that he could think of no other way to support his family.
Armendarez said residents of barangay Tomonoy rejoiced after seeing Aquino arrested by the police.
The entire community felt relieved, the police were told.
Aquino will face charges for violating provisions of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He is detained at CIDG-7 stockade. (FREEMAN)
