- Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja -

CEBU, Philippines - A Japanese citizen lost his cash and valuables to his Filipina girlfriend inside a hotel along La Guardia, barangay Lahug early morning yesterday.

The police identified the victim as Ryosuke Tol, 50, a marketing consultant of Glocal Cebu, Inc., and a resident of Miyasaki, Japan.

In a report recorded at the Cebu City Police Office Theft and Robbery Section, the victim alleged that he picked up his girlfriend, whom he identified only as a certain “Michelle”, in barangay Talamban around 7 p.m. last Saturday, hours before the theft happened.

The two had reportedly been together for a year now.

They went to the hotel where they rented a room and spent the night together.

He woke up at 1 a.m. and noticed that his girlfriend was no longer there. His bag, which contained P70,000, three cellular phones, and assorted cards, was also gone.

Police conducted an ocular investigation and were able to talk with the hotel’s duty desk officer who claimed that he saw the woman hurriedly leaving along with a hip bag.

The hotel employee further said he saw a man waiting for her outside the hotel and the two then left the place together.

Meanwhile, unidentified men broke into a store along Gorordo Ave., barangay Kamputhaw, around 3 p.m. last Saturday and stole cash and items inside.

Store owner Julian Alcantara, 44, reported to the police that he lost two cellular phones which amounted to P4,600. A thousand pesos in P5 coins and P300 in various bill denominations were also missing.

The burglars were able to get inside the store by destroying the padlock. The victim and his family were out of town for Holy Week when the burglary took place, police said. — (FREEMAN)
