One of Medellin's most wanted falls

CEBU, Philippines - One of the most wanted men in the Municipality of Medellin was arrested in a videoke bar yesterday dawn.

Richie Lubiano, 28 of sitio Toledo, Barangay Caputatan Norte, was arrested by the Medellin Police Officers headed by SPO1 Orlando Batusin.

The arrest was made by virtue of a warrant of arrest for rape in relation to Republic Act 716 issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 61 Judge Antonio Marigomen.

PO2 Roland Robin, duty desk officer and one of the arresting policemen, told The FREEMAN that at around 1:30 a.m. they received information from a concerned citizen telling them of Lubiano’s whereabouts.

They immediately went to the place to check the veracity of the information.

The responding police officers saw Lubiano with some friends. They approached the suspect and informed him of the warrant. Lubiano peacefully went with the police and was the one who first boarded the patrol car.

Robin said that there was no commotion during the arrest. According to the police, Lubiano committed the crime sometime in March 2007. He allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl.

Lubiano told the police that he was not expecting the said warrant. He said he already settled it with the family of the victim by paying them P10, 000.

But the family refused the money.

Lubiano is now detained at the Medellin Police Station. (FREEMAN)
