CEBU, Philippines – Two taxi drivers were injured after they were shot by two men last Sunday night in Barangay Labangon.

Taxi drivers Isagani Sinag, 37 and Janus Desoyo, 42, suffered graze wounds after they were shot by Renato Royo, 43, and his 20-year-old son Jason.

SPO3 Rey Cuyos of the Homicide Section said the victims were in drinking together with their other friends along A. Lopez St. around 3:30 pm when the younger Royo passed by.

Cuyos said the victims and their companions reportedly turned their attention on the suspect, a suspected thief, and gave him an unsolicited advice to stop his illegal activities.

Irked, the younger Royo went home.

The victims reportedly went after the suspect, but they were instead welcomed with gunfire.

A bullet grazed Sinag on his shoulder while Desoyo also suffered graze wounds on the head and left side of his body. They were taken to the Cebu City Medical Center for treatment.

PO3 Marvin Insong of the Mandaue City Police Office and PO1 Julius Gutierez of the Waterfront Police Station in Cebu who were both off duty at that time and who live at the area responded to the incident and arrested the father and son.

The elder Royo also had to be taken to CCMC for treatment after bystanders attacked him right after the shooting.

A caliber .38 snub nose revolver with three live bullets and two dud bullets on its cylinder was recovered from the suspects. The weapon is now at the custody of the Homicide Section. Charges will be filed against the suspects today. (FREEMAN)
